Regarding the future of “A” frame sidewalk signs downtown: A prime example of the effective use of these signs is on 100 South between Main and West Temple (specifically Cafe Molise restaurant, Oxford Shop shoe store and Utah Artist Hands art gallery.)
These signs, especially those on the corners, are responsible for approximately 25 percent of our business. They are inexpensive and effective, a major key to our successful operation and help add to the revitalization of downtown. They add character and life to our block and, to our knowledge, no one has ever complained.
As you have stated, some areas of the city have had numerous complaints, and the law should be enforced in these areas. But, please do not hurt us drastically in a neighborhood where our neighbors not only do not complain but seem to support us.
